Virgin Thief Read online

Nick's gaze bored into her as they faced off. What was the point in hiding it anymore? She could still hold her head up high. There was no shame in having feelings for a man, even if the man didn't return the feelings. Gathering all of her strength and Lord knew, she didn't have much where Nicholas Logan was concerned, she met his gaze. Win, lose, or draw, she could at least get the burden of how she felt about him off her chest. “I think, I mean ... I think I'm in love with you."

His expression immediately softened, so much that it offered a glimmer of hope for the two of them. “Ah ... hell, Chloe."

"That's all you have to say?"

"You make me want to be more sensitive."

What in the blazes did he mean by that? “Pardon me?"

"I've have it pointed out to me too many times that I'm not the most sensitive guy on the planet.” He reached behind him and scratched the back of his neck. “I should have asked you if you were a virgin that night. And I didn't. I shouldn't have assumed. And again I apologize."

The apology from him that she had so desperately needed produced the salty taste of tears in the back of her throat. “I should have told you."

"We both screwed up that night."

  "Yeah, we did."

Nick started pacing. “I think about you all the time. I can't sleep, I can't concentrate at work. I walk around with a perpetual hard-on even when I'm not with you.” He stopped and faced her. “For a man, that's a tough one."

  "Try the panty problem."

A complete look of confusion clouded his face.

  "Forget I said that."

Nick eyed her for a moment before he started pacing again. “If all those things add up to being in love, well then I'm your man."

Surprise bolted through her. In a roundabout way, he'd told her he was in love with her, but she needed him to say it. “Let me get this straight. Are you saying you're in love with me, too?"

Nick's jaw worked as he glanced away for a second. He looked back at her. “Yeah. I am."

She reached out, grabbed his jacket front and pulled him close. She didn't have to pull hard because he came willingly.

Nick placed his hands on her hips. “So do we wipe the slate clean and start fresh from here?"

"You want to just erase last night?"

"Nah, I can't forget the times we've been together. Hell, I don't want to forget them."

Chloe kissed him. “Neither do I."

Nick hugged her tight against him and kissed her with such passion she had to lean against him for support.

He ended the kiss, barely moving his lips from hers. “I'm now positive I'm in love with you, too."

The past drifted away as Chloe looked toward the future. “Kiss me again and again."
